Unfortunately, it is a sign of the times when insurance companies include money and assault as a section of cover in their policies.

It is not unusual for landlords to be paid in cash during a rent collection, therefore, some will potentially carry large amounts of money on their person until they can deposit the takings in their local bank. Some landlord policies recognise this and cover specified amounts of cash during business and after business hours against theft or robbery. There is even cover if cash is stolen from an overnight locked safe.

Although relatively rare, the level of violence used in some robberies can result in serious injuries leading to disablement and even death. Assault cover is similar to personal accident insurance and is designed to cover against the loss of a limb, eye, total disablement or death as the result of such an attack. Some insurance policies also cover damage to personal effects up to stated limits.
